Angela Opsahl joins IU School of Nursing Bloomington campus

Monday, May 22, 2017

IU School of Nursing welcomes Assistant Professor Angela Opsahl, DNP, RN, CPHQ, to the Bloomington campus. With 27 years of nursing experience, Dr. Opsahl is currently a scholar of the Sigma Theta Tau Nurse Faculty Leadership Academy and president of the Indiana Association for Healthcare Quality.

In her prior professional role, she was the quality data manager for Franciscan St. Francis Health at the three area campus hospitals of Carmel, Indianapolis, and Mooresville, Indiana. This position allowed her to impact patient care through data collection/submission and analysis of patient outcomes and by communicating trends to staff, physicians, and administrators to improve the overall patient experience and support positive patient outcomes.

Dr. Opsahl continues to assist higher education and local organizations with areas of program improvement. Her doctoral research focus is related to innovative educational strategies for quality outcomes in nursing. Her most recent publication in the Journal for Nursing Care Quality highlights improved fall rate/patient outcomes for a local inpatient facility through patient and family video engagement.
