Winter 2019 Edition
From the Associate Dean

Greetings!

It is my pleasure to share with you the winter edition of The Nursing News. As you’ll soon discover, the fall semester was a semester of “firsts” for the IU School of Nursing, Bloomington. Over the past five months, we have:
  • Admitted the first cohort of students into our accelerated 2nd degree pathway to the BSN.
  • Submitted a proposal to the IU Trustees and the Indiana Council on Higher Education for their approval for our first Master’s degree program, a Master’s in Nursing Education.
  • Received approval for our first Bloomington-specific pilot, to promote the RN-to-BSN online option. Outcomes from this pilot will help us market future distance-accessible programs.
  • Hosted our first New Student Boot Camp for our incoming Traditional BSN and Accelerated 2nd degree programs.
  • Participated in our first IU Homecoming, hosting a Tailgate Party for our alumni and students that was a tremendous success.
  • In May, Larry Wilson and Mark Casanova will become the first men of color to graduate from IU SON, Bloomington.
And these firsts are only the beginning! As we begin the spring semester, I also want to say how grateful I am to be associated with such an outstanding group of students, faculty, staff, alumni, donors, and friends. With your continued support, the future for our campus is very bright.

Thanks to all of you for being part of our extended IU SON Bloomington family!

Sincerely,

Mary Lynn Davis-Ajami, PhD, MBA, MS, FNP-C, RN
Associate Dean and Associate Professor
Indiana University Bloomington School of Nursing
