Three pathways to a BSN, tailored to your needs

Indiana University School of Nursing offers a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree program with three tracks—traditional, accelerated second degree, and RN to BSN.

Each track offers an exciting and cutting-edge pathway to a rich and rewarding professional nursing career, whether you are a traditional undergraduate student, a working RN, or an individual with a bachelor’s degree in a different field who wants to pursue nursing.

Traditional track

For those who don’t have a bachelor’s degree or prior nursing education. Most students—though not all—enter this track after high school. It requires four years of full-time study, and all coursework takes place on your home campus.

Traditional track—honors program

High-achieving students can pursue the traditional track with opportunities to work with a faculty mentor and conduct important research.

Second degree accelerated track

For students who have completed a 120 credit hour accredited baccalaureate degree in a non-nursing field and would like to pursue a nursing career.

RN to BSN degree completion option

For registered nurses who want to earn a BSN degree, from anywhere within the state of Indiana. All coursework takes place online.

Application deadlines

Fall entry

Applications available online:
- Traditional BSN: January 15 to April 15
- Accelerated BSN: January 15 to June 15
Priority deadline for course completion:
- Accelerated BSN: Mid-May
Final course completion deadline:
- Traditional BSN: End of spring semester
- Accelerated BSN: Mid-July
Notifications sent to students:
- Traditional BSN: June 1
- Accelerated BSN: Late June-August (pending grades)

Spring entry

Indianapolis and Fort Wayne only

Applications available online:
- Traditional BSN: July 15 to November 15
- Accelerated BSN: July 15 to November 15
Priority deadline for course completion:
- Accelerated BSN: Mid-October
Final course completion deadline:
- Accelerated BSN: Mid-December
Notifications sent to students:
- Traditional BSN: End of December
- Accelerated BSN: End of December

Summer entry

Second Degree Accelerated track only

Applications available online: January 15 to March 15
Priority deadline for course completion: Mid-February
Final course completion deadline: Mid-March
Notifications sent to students: End of March
