Student Life

A supportive community

When you study nursing at Indiana University Bloomington, you get the best of two worlds. You’re part of the IU School of Nursing, one of the largest nursing schools in the country, and you have access to the opportunities, resources, and support that only a large nursing school can provide.

But you’re also part of a small, supportive community of nursing students and faculty on the Bloomington campus. With only 80 students accepted into the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program in Bloomington each year, you’ll know all of your classmates by name—and your professors will know your name.

You’ll also have many opportunities to get involved in co-curricular activities such as student organizations, undergraduate research opportunities, and study abroad experiences.

Connect and collaborate

Whether you want to get career advice, network with fellow nursing students and other nursing professionals, or use your nursing skills to serve the community, joining one of the School of Nursing’s student organizations is a great way to enhance your nursing education. You can even start your own organization.

Explore, investigate, discover

The School of Nursing is the perfect environment for starting your career as a nurse-researcher—and you don’t have to be a graduate student to get involved. If you choose to participate in the school’s undergraduate honors program, you’ll have the opportunity to design and carry out your own research project with the support of a faculty mentor.
